Hello Gentle Readers,
I have some very awesome friends. You could almost argue they're SUPER FRIENDS!
And one of my Super-duper friends is the one and only Elizabeth Seckman. I've interviewed her once or twice, and also reviewed her book.
Add to that, Super-E has allowed everyone's favorite private investigator to ramble on her website. The most (absurdly) popular one is "How To Get Away With Cheating". I also did one on vacation spots for cheating.
I asked Elizabeth about her favorite super hero couples. Here's what she wrote:
Superman and Wonder Woman
Forget Lois Lane. She gets on this lady's nerves. She is just too mortal to be as bad ass as she wants to be. Dianna Prince has all the skills and power to hang alongside Clark Kent. They're perfect! What took DC so long to figure this out?
Batman and Catwoman
Selena Kyle is just naughty enough to balance out Bruce Wayne's near self-loathing. It's like Bruce feels guilty for being so awesome, but not Selena. In typical feline fashion, she is cool, aloof, and feels no remorse for who or what she's done.
Spiderman and Mary Jane Watson
Mary Jane only wins because Gwen Stacey is dead. My heart's still breaking and I figure Peter Parker is sweet (okay, I think he's sweet) and he should be happy and get to move on.
The Thing and Alicia Masters
Ben is grumpy and ugly, but buried under all that orange rock, he's a sweetheart. I will refrain from making the pun about love being blind with this couple- it's just too easy and too mean. But still. Even a blind Alicia has to know Ben Grimm doesn't look normal, but it doesn't matter. She loves him unconditionally. We're just glad Stan Lee has assured us Ben has a, um, thing. We're so happy for the couple!
Cyclops and Emma Frost
Not sure what it was about Scott Summers and Jean Grey that annoyed me as a couple. Perhaps it was that she was always making googly eyes at Wolverine or her tendency to constantly die or turn evil. Something about the match didn't work. The Summers/Frost pairing is perfect- even if they have some irony in their names.
So, Gentle Readers...here's the link of Super E's favorite couples. As for me, there can be only one answer.

The Blurb:
Jo Leigh Harper comes from a long line of trouble-making, white trash stock.
Tanner Coulter comes from a longer line of wealth-creating, blue blood stock.
Jo graduated college top of her class, moving toward a future full of possibilities.
Tanner dropped out of college, trading a law degree for drinking games and one night stands.
A family crisis throws the rich party boy and the poor genius girl together. The attraction is immediate, though neither one is a heart-in-the-sand-drawing believer in true love. But as the summer sun heats up along the shores of the Outer Banks, so does the connection between them. Maybe, just maybe, they can win at love by defying reason.
Author Bio:
Elizabeth is a multi-published author of books for people who are believers in happily-ever- after, true love, and stories with a bit of fun and twists with their plots. The mother of four young men, she tackles laundry daily and is the keeper of the kitchen. She lives along the shores of the Ohio River in West Virginia, but dreams daily of the beach.
Thanks for having me over- again!! You're a great friend to have, Jay. May the future for you and Dan be bright. :)
ReplyDeleteSo bright I have to wear sunglasses!
DeleteAnd we can use some sunshine right now!
DeleteI'd pick Superman and Wonder Woman, although Batman did have a thing for Catwoman.
ReplyDeleteGreat point!
DeleteSuperman and Wonder Woman are just so perfect!
DeleteI think you should have a Super Seckman Sunday every week (possibly on a Tuesday, if that's a quiet day:) Such a cool name :)
ReplyDeleteAs I am soo not into super hero comics, shows or movies, my favorite super hero couple would have to be Norm and Carla from Cheers :)
Theirs may not be a romance made in heaven (more like made by Sam Adams:) but boy, there would be a sarcastic laugh-a-minute :)
Norm and Carla? Have you been into the St. Paddy's fun early?
DeleteNo to comic books? Oh my.
I love the Batman/Catwoman pairing. You know how cats like to play with their food :)
ReplyDeleteLove it. That is awesome.
DeleteI didn't know about the Summers/Frost pairing and have to agree with your take on him and Jean. Soooo right. Mary Jane always seemed to have a bit more backbone than Gwen, but I liked both of them and couldn't believe it when they killed off Gwen. I always thought it was cool rock man got to have his own true love! Love all this super love!
ReplyDeleteI about cried when Gwen died. I guess my comic book reading family knew it was coming, but still...I liked her!
DeleteHmm . . . hard to pick one. I do love Mary Jane :-) Always liked Mr. Fantastic & Evelyn too!
ReplyDeleteMary Jane does have a quiet strength/girl next door personality that is just wonderful.
