Learning to let it go...

Hello Gentle Readers,

The Mimsus and I went to see Frozen this weekend.

And first of all, that thing should be called Miscommunication: The Musical. This isn't a Mimsey review, though maybe I'll do that at some point.

From left to right:
Serious sibling rivalry issues,
doesn't understand she can leave the castle,
BEST CHARACTER EVER,
needs therapy, Han Solo on Ice

What I want to talk about is letting things go.

I have an anger management issue. I realize that 90% of the people who know me, think I'm either a good guy or that I fart rainbows.

Ladies.

But, I'm also a guy who tends to let way too much stuff bother him. Don't get me wrong, I don't tend to blow up or anything, and I can definitely get upset about some really stupid stuff.

Like people who come to a complete stop to make a turn on green!
NO ONE ELSE HAS THE RIGHT OF WAY!

The problem I have is, I tend to let that anger build up inside. I bury that stuff, and end up either overreacting to a situation or making terrible decisions.

Trust me, nothing says therapy like a
scattered-covered-smothered with raisin toast.
Watching Frozen, it hit me, I can't keep holding onto these negative feelings. I have to either confront them, let them go, or address the issue that is causing them. But right now, the only one I'm hurting by holding onto negative feelings is myself.
And time feeling bad is time that could be spent making a pillow fort.
And now, someone much better at explaining this

Fred Rogers: Always willing to explain what to do
with the mad that you feel.

So, I may not be the best writer, the most successful blogger, or the best human being, but I'm going to try to be the best me I can be.

Jay Mims writes books, blogs, and loves Christmas music. Jay and The Mimsus live with a passive-aggressive Dalek named Steve, and have semi-adopted their neighbor's cat named Eartha Kitty. There's another cat named Meowthazar, but he's not as interesting. Also a Lizard that Jay calls Bob. Jay is far funnier on Facebook then in real life. He is terrible at Twitter.

  1. Actually Mims, I can relate to bottled up anger. I do the same thing. The big things fester until some little thing like an empty coffee mug on the desk makes me snap.

I've learned that if I can't talk about it, I can write about it. I have a black journal with skulls on it reserved for my pissed off feelings and the things that made them go away. Luckily it works rather well since I have no intentions of seeing 'Frozen'. ;)

    1. I think that journal idea is genius! I might need to start writing down those feelings.

  2. Put your red feelings in your cool blue toolbox.
