Smith and Mimsey: A Very Mimsey Interview

Hello Gentle Readers,

Today is the last day of the Mimsey March Madness posting extravaganza! And I think I speak for everyone when I say: THANK GOODNESS!!!!

Cue the music!

SMITH AND MIMSEY: A Very Mimsey Interview
Before we begin, some housekeeping is in order. First of all, this is your last chance to enter the Mimsey March Madness raffle and giveaway. Prizes include copies of the books, hand drawn Mimsey originals of Steve the Passive Aggressive Dalek, Eartha Kitty and Bob the Lizard, grand prize winners will get a complete Mimsey Mad Tea Party drawing with all three, plus I've got some special swag lined up as well.

And cake! Just kidding, the cake is a lie!

Finally, I'll be taking the rest of the week off to catch up on homework, regular work and spending time with The Mimsus. However, starting April 9th, I will be making every effort to post every Wednesday. Fingers crossed.

I blame all my bad habits on Steve.

So, without further ado, allow me to introduce the one and only T.M. Smith!
This is her. Got books everywhere!

Hello Mimsey’s gentle readers! Me, personally, I like it a little rough. Speaking of rough, where is Dan? I was promised that if I submitted to this interview, I’d get a little one on one time with the smoldering, snarky Dan Landis.

This is not Dan Landis.
Also this is Chris Winters.

OH, there you are. HI Dan!!! Remember me? I interviewed you for my blog last year! Oh, that smile, those eyes. Oh, right, Interview. What was your question?

This is not Dan Landis either.
This is Justin Tully.

What got you into writing?

An insane love of reading and a need to tell a story.

Who were your heroes growing up?

My dad, still is. He is in his sixties and he still works his ass off to provide for his family. And even though he is old and set in his ways, he’s still evolving.

What has been your favorite moment as a writer so far?

That first five star review!

What has been the most difficult part of writing? What was the easiest?

I have an issue with turning off my OCD when I’m writing, so I tend to edit as I write. I’m trying to train myself to just write it down and then go back and edit. Easier said than done!
Instead of easiest, because nothing about being an author is really easy, let’s talk least difficult. Giving each of my characters a voice as an individual. They are all unique and different and I think that I’ve conveyed that well.

Do you have a favorite work you wrote? Why?

So far The Library. It was so much fun to go back and elaborate on the scenes that I cut short or removed entirely from Opposites

Sadly, that woman's hair didn't get a spin off.

What’s the best place for you to write?

In my room with my playlist going and my headphones on so I can tune out the world and just listen to the voices in my head.

Which character is the most fun to write for?

Aiyan and Kaden. I have to talk about them together because, even though they are individuals, together they are one. I love telling their love story as it unfolds, and it’s so much fun trying to work out in my head what they are going to break next.

Which book would you most love to see become a movie?

Opposites! And I already have it casted, Hollywood just needs to call me.

What can readers expect next from T.M. Smith?

I’m working on Appearances now, book 2 in the series. And then there will be another novella for the dads from House Orion, The Cellar.

Any tips for aspiring writers?

Just do it! And, don’t sweat the small stuff. You can’t please everyone, as long as you are happy with what you have written then that is all that matters at the end of the day. There are going to be haters and nay sayers, you have to let it slide off, like water off a ducks back. There were too many characters; not enough characters; too descriptive; not descriptive enough; the story started out slow; and on and on. Focus on the good and learn from the bad.

LIGHTNING ROUND:

Coffee or Tea ~ Coffee!

Cat or Dog ~ I do love my doggie, but Cats are just easier to deal with. So, cat.

You know what's also great to deal with?
Falcons!

Grand Canyon or Mount Rushmore ~ Grand Canyon, never been to either but given a choice I’d choose GC first.

Football or Baseball  ~ Neither. Hockey!

Frankenstein or Dracula ~ Dracula of course.

Beatles or Rolling Stones ~ Beatles.

Bubble Bath or Chocolate ~ Can’t I take a bubble bath while eating chocolate. Or take a bubble bath in chocolate, no, that would make a mess. And who would clean that up.

Three’s Company or Gilligan’s Island ~ Three’s Company, John Ritter was hysterical. RIP!

And finally, how does it feel to be the last post on the Mimsey Madness tour?

I feel special, and pretty, oh so pretty!
