So, in my continuing effort to make The Mimsus feel both loved and appreciated, I decided to take her to the movies. Want to guess which film I chose?
You've now entered the blogging habitat of author Jay Mims. A place of occasional intelligence, overabundance of enthusiasm, and far too many bad jokes. It is The Mimsey Zone. Feel free to take photographs, but we do ask that you not feed The Mimsey.

Somebody call "Yo Mama!"
Hello Gentle Readers,
A friend of the blog and Yogi, Shannon Ivey, is in need of an assist. You may remember Shannon from her previous post.
So, who's up for a little IndieGogo love?

Five Year Celebration...
Hello Gentlereaders,
Five years ago this month, I successfully obtained an MFA in Cinema-Television Directing.
Five years ago this month, I successfully obtained an MFA in Cinema-Television Directing.
Enabling me to have a spirited conversation about the influence of Truffaut
while asking if you want paper or plastic.
In addition to making friendships that will last a lifetime, I am very proud of the work that came of that time. Specifically, the development of everyone's favorite private investigator, Dan Landis.

At the write place...
Hello Gentle Readers,
Why do we set our stories where we do? The big thing every writer is told, is WRITE WHAT YOU KNOW. Which is good advice. Except, what do you do when the story burning inside you is something beyond what you know?
What do you do when that story is somewhere you've never been? Or a place you don't know that much about? What do you do when you have to write what you DON'T KNOW?
In that case, it's time to take a step back, relax, and realize it's OK. It's fine to write what you don't know. But, you need to learn about it. You need to treat your writing like a detective. Investigate, explore the facts, and study the little details.
And if all else fails, just make up the location entirely. It worked for Batman.

Lest We Forget: An interview with Holocaust survivor Jay Ipson
Hello Gentle Readers,
Today we celebrate VE Day, the end of the European section of World War II and the defeat of Nazi Germany.
Recently, I was able to attend an educational session hosted by Jay Ipson, Holocaust survivor and founder of the Virginia Holocaust Museum. I asked if he'd be willing to do an interview for the blog, and he was more then happy.
Please join me in welcoming Mr. Ipson!
